Qazigund, Dec 05 (KNO): The security forces arrested two terror associates linked to The Resistance Front (TRF) and recovered arms and ammunition, including two AK-56 rifles, from them at Lower Munda area of Qazigund in South Kashmir's Kulgam district, officials said.
An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that during an operation, two terror associates were arrested while arms and ammunition were recovered from their possession at Gulab Bagh near the Lower Munda area of Qazigund.
The recovered items include two AK-56 rifles, four magazines, and 79 rounds of ammunition.
The arrested OGWs (overground workers) have been identified as Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, son of Rashid Bhat, of Nipora, and Altaf Ahmad Lone, son of Abdul Ahad Lone, of Teesan Kachpora Zadoora.
A case has been registered, and further investigations are underway, he said.
Meanwhile, police in a statement issued to KNO, said: "Kulgam police arrested two OGWs of the TRF/LeT outfit; arms and ammunition recovered."
"During the investigation of the case, vide FIR number 262/2024, registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station Qazigund, two OGWs, namely Altaf Ahmad Lone, son of Abdul Ahad Lone, resident of Kachpora Zadoora, and Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Rashid Bhat, resident of Nipora, Mirbazar, were apprehended at Gulab Bagh, Qazigund," the police spokesperson said.
He added that during questioning, the accused disclosed possession of arms and ammunition. On their disclosure, two AK-56 rifles, four AK-series magazines, and 79 live cartridges of the AK series were recovered.
"The accused were acting on the directions of Pakistani handler Hamza Bhai and were in the process of carrying out terror activities in the area. The investigation of the case is going on," he said—(KNO)
